The Alliance Bulldogs warmed up the chill in a frigid Addison Square Gardens early Saturday morning when they faced the DHJA Penguins (Reid) in the first of two weekend games. The Penguins scored quickly, within the first minute, but it would be only time they would command a lead. Before the end of the period, the Bulldogs tied the score, 1-1. The second period was scoreless and the ‘Dogs added two more goals in the third period. Defensively, the boys were on their game, fending off a number of power plays. Their 3-1 victory was an indication of the team playing to their potential, said Coach LaPane.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs picked up where they left off, scoring the first goal in the first period. DJHA hung tough and tied it up to close out the first period. The Bulldogs then opened up the second period with back-to-back goals to take a 3 to 1 lead. The team played great defense and goal tending for the next 20 minutes until DJHA scored with five minutes remaining. LaPane’s boys kept up the defensive pressure for the last 5 minutes and recorded their 2nd victory in a row. The Bulldogs played a very solid game on offense and defense and minimized penalties. They will go after their 3rd win in a row in two weeks.
