12U PeeWee '96 - Young | Teams

Welcome to the 12U '96 Young Team Page

The 12U '96 Young hockey team is a PeeWee Tier II youth hockey team. The team plans to compete in the NTXHL and play in a variety of tournaments ranging from PeeWee AA, PeeWee AAA and Bantam A to test the kids against differing competition.

Mile High Thanksgiving (PeeWee AA) - Nov. 26 - 30, 2008 (Littleton, CO)
Texas Star (PeeWee AA) - Jan. 16 - 19, 2009 (Dallas, TX)
International Silver Stick Finals (PeeWee AA) - Jan. 22 - 25, 2009 (Port Huron, MI)
USA Hockey State Tournament (PeeWee Tier II) - Feb. 6 - 8, 2009 (Dallas, TX)

PeeWee 12U Young Wins 2008 Silver Stick Western Regional Championship

Western Region Silver Stick Champions

Bulldogs overcome tough schedule and strong competition to earn a bid to the International Silver Stick Finals

The schedule was tough from the start. Alliance 12U Young had their 4 pool play games scheduled within a 24 hours period on Saturday and Sunday. But the kids stepped up by winning all 4 pool play games, outscoring their opponents 27 - 5. This afforded them the first seed in the semi-final elimination round.

In the semi-finals, the team faced the Alliance 12U LaPane, a team that played them to a very close 4 – 2 pool play game. This game was no different. LaPane’s team came out hungrier controlling play in the first period and getting the games first goal. Young’s team got the equalizer in the second on a wicked slapshot from the top of the circle to tie the game early in the second. This gave Young’s team life as they tacked on 2 more goals in the second to lead 3 – 1 after 2 periods. With 2 more goals in the 3^rd period, the 12U young team advanced to finals with a 5 – 2 victory.

In the finals, the team would square off with the undefeated Team Houston. The bulldogs came out to play for the hardware and the bid to the International Silver Stick Finals scoring 2 goals in the first 2 minutes of the game. This left Team Houston on their heels. The bulldogs tacked on one more goal late in the 1^st period to lead 3 - 0. Continuing to play hard, Young’s team added another goal in the 2^nd to lead 4 – 0. Team Houston scored early in the 3^rd period making a statement that they weren’t going to give up without a fight. The game ended 4 – 1 sealing the Championship for the Bulldogs. Congratulations to the players, the coaches and the parents on a well deserved trophy celebration.
