In non-rush hour traffic, this trip is about 25 miles and will take approximately 30-35 minutes. During rush hour (4:00-7:00pm), it will take considerably longer, as during that time the heavy traffic is flowing in the same direction you need to be traveling (north).
Arriving earlier in the day will certainly expedite your drive to Frisco, and make it much more enjoyable.
From DFW Airport, there will be only one (1) traffic light which is at the Frisco Convention Center. After exiting the airport, there will be three (3) toll plazas during the drive to Frisco. The first two will cost $1.00 each, and the final Gaylord exit toll will be $0.40, totaling $2.40 in tolls one way. Information about the North Texas Tollway Authority and up to date status of tollways and traffic can be seen on the web at http://ntta.org/.
DO NOT take Highway 121 north to Frisco. Even though it looks like it would be shorter and quicker on a map, it is under major construction and will take extremely longer to get to Frisco and be very frustrating.
Instead…
Take the north exit from the DFW Airport. Heading north out of the airport, take the Interstate 635/LBJ Freeway east. Continue east on 635/LBJ for approximately 5 miles to George Bush Turnpike north.
Continue on the Bush Turnpike north, curving to the east, for approximately 12 miles to the northbound exit at the Dallas North Tollway. Take the Dallas North Tollway north for approximately 7 miles to the Gaylord Blvd. exit and turn right (east).
The Frisco Convention Center and Embassy Suites are 2 blocks down on the right (south side), just past the Dr. Pepper StarCenter Arena. There is a small parking lot on the northeast side of the Convention center, and a parking garage on the southeast side, on the east side of the Embassy Suites entrance.
